01 Apr Celebrate Earth Month With LUX!

April is “Earth Month” (April 22nd is the official “Earth Day”) and we’re excited to celebrate! Earth Day is about bringing awareness regarding environmental issues and what we can all do to help. While there seems to be an official national day for everything (National Cheeseburger Day anyone?), we believe Earth Day is actually worth celebrating (not that we don’t love an excuse for a cheeseburger).

LED lighting makes a huge impact on our Earth and its precious resources by reducing energy, air pollution, water pollution, and the use of hazardous chemicals. And while these facts may not always be the number one reason for switching over to LEDs (we get it - slashing that energy bill is a huge incentive all on its own), the fact that LEDs are the eco-friendly lighting choice is something we’re proud to be a part of. Saving the Earth often sounds like a daunting task, but if we all do our part, little by little, huge advances can be made. It can be as simple as using a refillable water bottle and not buying plastic water bottles, or replacing a burnt-out incandescent with an LED.

The Department of Energy released a study of the environmental impacts between incandescents, CFLs, and LEDs. LEDs beat out all other lighting options in each category. See the graphic below and read the entire study here:

Be EnLIGHTened:

If every household in the United State replaced one regular lightbulb with an energy-efficient light, the pollution reduction would be equivalent to removing one million cars from the road.
